Winnebago health facility front entrance closing for repairs

WINNEBAGO, Neb. (KTIV) – The Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System’s front entrance is closing for repairs to address a safety concern.

According to a release, traffic will be rerouted to the east entrance near the emergency room for the safety of patients, employees, and visitors.

The release states that the sinking, heated sidewalk presents a safety issue that would be a complex and costly process to fix. Now that the funds have been secured, the organization has begun moving forward with the project.

“Due to its self-heating nature, the needed repairs and coordination of this project in conjunction with all other planned projects this summer has been difficult to navigate,” Facilities and Physical Environment Director Paul McCarty said. “But it was important to our team to see all these things completed before winter with the smallest impact to our patients.”

The release noted that the space directly outside of the east entrance will be reserved exclusively for patient parking. The area closest to the main entrance will be barricaded to employees and the public as a construction zone.

Repairs are set to begin the week of August 4.
